About the Project

The Clinton Corner Family Campus is in an urban area where the children have little opportunity to explore nature and outdoor sensory stimulation. In our Outdoor STEAM Classroom, children and adults will work with dirt, plants, and grow a garden in a natural setting. The project envisions classroom gardens for flowering plants and for growing fruits and/or vegetables. The gardens will be child-centered and maintained. A larger school community garden will enhance social/emotional development with the children and our families in our community. This outdoor classroom will also be equipped with a sensory area that has a magnetic wall, art easels and outdoor ramps which will be used for hands on STEAM activities and scientific observations. Our goal is to make the outdoor STEAM area an extension of our indoor STEAM lab!
