About the Project

The Tiger Paw Cafe is a student-run beverage business at Morse High School that brings together general education and moderate-severe special education (SPED) students through hands-on learning and inclusive collaboration. Operated by students in the Hospitality, Culinary, and Mod-Severe SPED programs, the cafe allows students to develop and manage every aspect of a small business—from menu planning and marketing to inventory, customer service, and budgeting. The project provides simulated job experiences and internship hours while aligning with IEP goals and fostering independence, teamwork, and workplace readiness. General education students serve as peer mentors, helping create visual aids and offering guidance to support SPED peers in leadership and job roles. Through daily operations, school-wide staff engagement, and partnerships with families and local businesses, the Tiger Paw Cafe strengthens equity, student voice, and community connections while preparing all participants for future success.

Meet the Project Coordinator

Andrea Meier

I’m an Essential Needs (formerly Moderate - Severe) Education Specialist at Morse High School and I teach Science. I also hold the position of Community Schools Site Coach for Morse High School. As an Ed. Specialist and a new grant recipient I aim to foster an inclusive environment where general education and special education students can learn, grow, and ascertain job skills to better prepare themselves for their future endeavors.
