About the Project

Kindergarten is a time for learning many exciting and potentially life-inspiring things. Perhaps the most meaningful topic for any kindergartener is “how things grow.” This project will provide opportunities for students at Turtle Bay School to “create life” through gardening in a hands-on way. The project also provides science experiences that inspire experimentation and discussions about: how plants and animals differ; the interdependence of humans and plants; where our food comes from; stewardship of other living things; and community responsibility. In addition to addressing many of the NGSS standards, this project will inspire future scientists, bioengineers, gardeners, nurturers, and environmentalists.
