Ground Zero: Building CommunityThrough a Cross-Curricular, School-Wide Read

During our first trimester, the Young Ambassadors at Grass Valley Elementary School in Oakland have implemented projects around bullying, healthy eating, student mindfulness, mentoring, school beautification, and creating a monthly newsletter…We rarely get to work with students in such an intimate and informal setting…We are also happy to see some of our quieter students step up and share their thoughts in a way we haven’t seen before. It seems that being in a smaller group provides a comfortable space for students to be more vulnerable to share their thoughts.”
