About the Project

This project transforms our classroom into a Student-Led Solutions Hub, where 3D printing bridges student imagination and community service. Students engage in empathy-driven engineering by identifying real-world challenges faced by local charities. They research needs, brainstorm ideas, and work in teams to design, prototype, and refine practical solutions using iterative design cycles. Through 3D modeling and printing, they create useful items such as adaptive tools and organizational aids. Along the way, students document their work, reflect on feedback, and present their progress. The project builds problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills while fostering responsibility and compassion. By connecting learning to real community impact, students see how innovation can serve others and make a meaningful difference beyond the classroom.

Meet the Project Coordinator

Emmanuel Espinoza

I am currently a 4th grade teacher who teaches multiple subjects. I enjoy taking on the role of our after school program where I can incorporate the use of the 3D printers to get multiple grades involved in learning about our community and finding ways where we can utilize the 3D printers to help our community. I enjoy donating my time to my community and learning of different ways to help the less fortunate. I have connections to an organization that is involved with sending care packages to children in the Dominican Republic and look forward to finding other organizations that I can be involved with.
