About the Project
Pio Partners Mentor Outreach at Western High School has three main goals: 1) reach out to eighth and ninth-grade students and parents to support the transition into high school; 2) create an inclusive environment with special education students; 3) provide safe locations on campus for students to feel welcomed and supported at lunch. Teachers train students to lead and mentor the three target groups. Mentors conduct weekly visits to frontload vital information and skills needed to make good decisions and begin high school with a strong foundation. Through quarterly summits, the program will also inform, involve, and empower families.
