About the Project

Bringing Learning to Life: Immersive Classroom Transformations is a hands-on, student centered, room transforming project. The project is designed to spark curiosity and increase engagement in today’s classroom. The project transforms traditional lessons into interactive experiences where students actively explore academic concepts. Some examples include a “crime scene” where students will analyze clues and practice making inferences, a “surgery room” where students will dissect character traits whilst dressed as doctors, or a “construction zone” where students apply their knowledge of area and perimeter in real world scenarios.

Meet the Project Coordinator

Cori Schmitz

I am a fourth grade teacher at Northlake TK-8. At my current school, I serve as the campus culture coordinator, am a member of our PBIS team, lead our Science Nights, participate in my local union, and am dedicated to helping my students love coming to school. My teaching philosophy has always centered on engagement. When students are excited to be in the classroom, learning takes flight. I am excited to implement themed days that revolve around learning, creating experiences that are so engaging and fun that students won't even realize how much they are learning. My goal is to keep them excited, engaged, and eager to come to school each day.
