About the Project

Many students lack equitable access to opportunities that allow them to showcase their creativity, share their perspectives, and feel a sense of belonging within the school community. Arts programs often face limited funding, restricting access to materials, equipment, and public platforms for student expression. Additionally, students are rarely given leadership roles in shaping large-scale school events, limiting their sense of agency and voice. This project addresses these gaps by creating an inclusive, student-centered Arts Showcase that prioritizes access, representation, and leadership. By providing necessary resources and structured opportunities for participation, all students—regardless of background or experience—can contribute meaningfully. Students will not only create and present work, but also take part in decision-making processes such as theme development, curation, and event planning.

Meet the Project Coordinator

Abigail Rhodes

I am a ceramics teacher and ceramics club advisor for mainly 11th and 12th graders at PLHS. I love the arts and I love seeing my students in their element, expressing themselves through visual art, band, theater and more. I think that art is so important for student’s well-being and that it can give life and energy to schools and students alike.
