About the Project

The “Empowering Special Needs Students through Environmental Stewardship” project will engage students with disabilities in hands-on environmental activities such as gardening, recycling, and community clean-ups. Designed to promote student agency and advocacy, the program helps participants develop essential life skills, including collaboration, leadership, and critical thinking, while also fostering a deep connection to environmental and social justice causes. Students will take part in planning and leading projects, attending field trips, and interacting with community mentors to build confidence and a sense of purpose. Through this work, students will gain real-world experience, strengthen their voice, and grow into empowered citizens who contribute meaningfully to their communities and the planet.
