About the Project
Harvest Helpers plans to expand its fruit-gleaning operation beyond its current high school home to include all Fremont Unified students and staff, K-12. Each month, two classrooms will harvest fruit from residential trees, then donate it to the community’s most needy. Students will become more deeply involved with the details of the now-functioning Project by developing an organizational system to connect with additional donors, find additional organizations eager to accept the bounty, hone the fruit-gleaning logistics, and record harvests in pounds, while learning about nutrition, teamwork, business sense, and enjoying some freshly-squeezed juice.
