About the Project

This program provides students at Hedenkamp Elementary and Camarena Elementary with instrumental music instruction after school from a supervising teacher and high school student mentors. High school musicians will fulfill their volunteer community service hours by guiding elementary musicians for a mentor/mentee relationship. It is students helping students. These partnerships will include acoustical recording of practice sessions, to offer student-produced audio tracks to our GANF award winning music tech classes. With their experience using Soundtrap, Flat.io, and HookTheory, these tracks can be incorporated into digital music projects to share both music programs’ work in areas like student news reports, podcasts, blogs, and videos. Students will know they are contributing to an already groundbreaking music program by developing lifelong instrumental skills, and experience in recording technology.
